July Xtra 2017

Dear all

In the last few weeks the country has experienced   a series of national tragedies, such as the bombing in Manchester, the attack on London Bridge and Borough market, the Grenfell Tower fire, and the attack on a mosque in Finsbury Park.

For all of us, this has been a deeply worrying time for our nation.

Added to that we have political instability in the wake of the General Election which may lead to increasing financial stability - though I sincerely hope not.

For times like these, the importance of faith comes even more to the front of our minds than usual. May you know God's peace and love and joy despite these trials our country is undergoing. May you also be able to draw strength from some of the events listed below that demonstrate the life of All Saints in action, serving the community with God's love.

Best wishes

ALL SAINTS CHURCH FETE
Please do come to our Church Fete (now no longer called All Saints Garden Party) this Saturday from 2pm to 4pm at the Vicarage garden.
It promises to be a special occasion. Please pray for good weather after the problems we had last year with heavy rain. Hope to see you there!
If you can offer help at the fete please contact John Johnson on 01227 262581. Thank you.

NOTICE RE BOOTFAIRS IN CHURCH STREET
You might want to be aware that the Boot Fairs are on these dates - Sunday 25th June, Sunday 30th July, Sunday 27th August, Sunday 24th September. If you are able to walk it would be appreciated if you would consider parking in one of the residential streets on these mornings to allow members of the congregation who find walking difficult space to park in the main church car parks.

NB the parking for the Fete will not be affected as the Boot Fairs normally finish by midday at the latest

PRAYER PILGRIMAGE - this coming Monday 26th June from 7.30pm to 9pm at All Saints church
Please click on poster for full details in large screen format
We are hosting this event on behalf of Churches Together in Whitstable. If you would like to help me lead some of the 90 minutes I would be grateful. There will be quite a lot of people attending who are used to the more extempore informal type of prayer so please come aware that this is likely to appear quite a lot during the 90 minutes. I will try and make it as creative a 90 minutes as I can and would appreciate your input too. Please come and represent All Saints at this event.

PARISH WEEKEND AWAY

This is an opportunity for the WHOLE CHURCH FAMILY to enjoy a time away together. Children very welcome.
The venue has been chosen so travelling time is minimal, lifts can be arranged.
An outline of the programme will be available for you when the time comes to take firm bookings.

Please put these dates in your diary now. We will be issuing formal booking forms in due course.

BBQ AT THE VICARAGE GARDEN

All Saints Whitstable Church Family BBQ
For members of the All Saints church family and their friends
The date will be as follows
7pm onwards on  Friday 7th July

This is now being financed by the church as a social and outreach project so all we would ask for is your presence and a garden chair. If you want to make a salad (but not a pudding) please let us know. All meat and baps and veggie options will be provided and we do not want donations, but we do ask you to bring your own drink and a garden chair. Please let Simon know if you can come at tillotsons@gmail.com as we will need to know almost exact numbers. If it is raining the event will be cancelled and a message will be put on the main page of the All Saints Whitstable church website.

We would appreciate it if you could bring a garden chair with you too.
If the weather is wet the BBQ will be cancelled. I will email those who have replied by lunch time on the day of the BBQ with a decision if it is one of those days where it might rain or might be ok
Best wishes
Simon and Cathy
